Juvelook for Large Pores & Acne Scars β A Real Patient Review
Dr. Han Jin Yi explains Dana's Juvelook case in her own words β how a skin scan and one-on-one consultation pointed to Juvelook for her pores and acne scars, what the injections honestly feel like, and when to judge the result.

Hello, I'm Dr. Han Jin Yi, a board-certified plastic surgeon at Gangnam HERA, and my focus is skin boosters and skin regeneration. Dana (@danakxx) put her reason for visiting very plainly in her video: large pores and acne scars "have always been my biggest skin concerns." She researched clinics in Seoul before choosing us, went through a skin scan and a one-on-one consultation, and was treated with Juvelook. Because pores and acne scarring are two of the questions I hear most from international patients, I want to walk you through her case step by step β including the part she was honest about, that "it hurt tho."
What did the consultation show?
It showed that Dana's concern was skin texture, not volume. Before we talked about any treatment, she had a facial skin analysis; the screen in her video shows the pore reading on that scan, sitting toward the enlarged end of the scale. Then we sat down together over a face chart. With pores and old acne marks, the first thing I separate is whether the skin needs surface resurfacing, deeper collagen rebuilding, or both. In her own close-ups you can see the pattern: shallow marks spread across the cheeks, and pores of the kind that look larger when the surrounding skin lacks support. That pattern points toward rebuilding collagen in the dermis, which is exactly what Juvelook is designed to do. As her caption says, we recommended it "based on my skin type," not as a default.
Why Juvelook for pores and acne scars?
Because it improves the skin from inside the dermis, gradually, instead of simply filling it. Juvelook is an injectable collagen-stimulating booster made of poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA) combined with hyaluronic acid. Once placed in the dermis, the PDLLA microparticles slowly break down and stimulate fibroblasts to produce new collagen, while the hyaluronic acid gives immediate hydration. Dana summarised it well herself: Juvelook "stimulates your skin to naturally produce more collagen," helping improve texture, minimise pores and reduce acne scars. We offer two versions. Standard Juvelook has a lower PDLLA concentration and is aimed at tone, fine lines and pores; Juvelook Volume is the higher-concentration formula for restoring volume and deeper wrinkles. For Dana, standard Juvelook was the right choice β her face did not need volume, and adding it would not have helped her pores.
Does Juvelook hurt, even with numbing cream?
Yes, some people still feel it, and I would rather say so than pretend otherwise. One viewer asked under her post whether it "hurts so bad even after applying numbing cream." Here is the honest answer. Numbing cream takes the sharpness off, but Juvelook is placed in many small points across the face, so you will feel a series of quick pricks and some pressure. For most patients that is very manageable; for a sensitive face it can feel uncomfortable at moments. Topical anesthesia is our standard, and gas anesthesia is also available, so if you know you have a low pain threshold, tell us at consultation and we will plan around it. Each session usually takes only about 10 to 20 minutes of injection time, which helps.
What happened right after the treatment?
Right after, she went home with mild redness and her skin calmed under a soothing mask; she filmed herself straight after the session. That is typical. The common short-term effects are mild redness, slight swelling, small bumps at injection points and occasional bruising, and these usually settle within a few days. A gentle massage of the area may be advised, and most people go back to their normal routine soon after. One thing Dana mentioned that I hear often: her skin "feels less dry," so her makeup "goes on so much better now." That is the hyaluronic acid working early, before the collagen phase has really started.
When should you judge a Juvelook result?
Give it at least three to four weeks before deciding, and think in courses rather than single sessions. Because the improvement depends on new collagen, it builds gradually from around the third or fourth week. A single session may last about five to six months, while a course of around three sessions spaced roughly a month apart can maintain results for twelve months or longer. Dana's video shows her own before-and-after close-ups of her cheek, and I am pleased with how her texture looks. Results vary from person to person. I always plan the next step after seeing how a patient's skin has actually responded.
What did we leave out of this plan, and why?
We did not use filler, and we did not choose Juvelook Volume, because neither would have addressed her real concern. Filler adds volume; Dana's issue was texture and pore support. We also kept this visit focused on one booster, so that the effect of Juvelook could be judged clearly. For patients whose scarring is more uneven or whose pores are oilier, I sometimes add an energy-based step such as Potenza with exosomes, which uses RF microneedling to refine pores and acne scarring from a different angle. That is a conversation for follow-up, once we can see how her skin has responded to the first round.
At HERA, every international patient is treated directly by a board-certified doctor with an on-site English interpreter, and receives a written quote after consultation at the same price our Korean patients pay.
Is This for You?
Who this treatment is genuinely for
Signs it may be time to consider it
- Your pores look larger on the cheeks than on the rest of your face
- Old acne marks have left your skin looking uneven in daylight
- Makeup settles into pores and texture instead of looking smooth
- Your skin often feels dry or tight even with moisturiser
- You want skin-quality change without looking like you had something done
It's a good fit if
- Enlarged pores are your main concern and skincare alone has not changed them
- You have shallow, spread-out acne scars or marks across the cheeks
- You want gradual, natural improvement in skin texture rather than added volume
- You can plan for a course of sessions roughly a month apart
Not the right first step if: Juvelook isn't the right first step if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have active inflammation or infection in the treatment area, or need flawless skin for an event within the next few days β a doctor's consultation always comes first.

βIf pores and old acne marks are on this list for you, the honest answer is usually a collagen-building plan over a few sessions, not a single quick fix. Send me a close-up of your cheek in daylight and I'll tell you whether Juvelook alone makes sense, or whether I'd pair it with something else.β
