Potenza + Juvelook Before Graduation Photos β€” A Real Patient Review

Milly wanted a "glow up in three days" before her graduation photos. Dr. Han Jin Yi explains why we combined Potenza and Juvelook for her dull skin, pores and scars β€” and what a photo deadline can and cannot change.

Hello, I'm Dr. Han Jin Yi, a board-certified plastic surgeon at Gangnam HERA, where skin boosters and skin regeneration are my focus. Milly (@millyguardado) came to us with a very specific deadline: her graduation photos at her Korean university were that same week, and she opened her video with the question, "Can we have a glow up in three days?" She told us she needed "a quick solution for the dull skin," and she was also bothered by enlarged pores and scarring. I want to walk you through her case honestly, because a photo deadline changes what is sensible to do, and what is not.

What can realistically change before a photo deadline?

Hydration and freshness can change quickly; deeper collagen remodeling cannot. That distinction shaped Milly's whole plan. The hyaluronic acid in a skin booster gives the skin immediate hydration, which is a large part of what people mean by "glow." The collagen-building part of a treatment like Juvelook works on a much slower timeline, with improvement building from around three to four weeks. So for Milly, the near-term goal was skin that looked rested and hydrated in her photos, while the pore and scar work would keep improving well after graduation. The other key factor is recovery. Mild redness and small bumps after microneedling and booster injections usually settle within a few days, and Milly told her followers that the recovery period is "between three days and one week." For anyone planning around an event, that range is the reason we prefer more lead time than a few days whenever it is possible.

What did we choose for Milly, and why?

After a quick consultation and skin check, we combined three things, each aimed at one of her concerns. First, Potenza, our RF microneedling treatment, which she described as being "to reduce the size of pores and scars" and called her favorite. Ultra-fine needles create micro-channels while radiofrequency energy is delivered into the dermis, which helps refine enlarged pores, acne scarring and rough texture. Second, Juvelook, a collagen-stimulating skin booster made of poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA) and hyaluronic acid β€” Milly's subtitles describe it in exactly those terms, as improving skin and elasticity and stimulating collagen production. Third, a small amount of fat-dissolving injection along the jawline, in her words "to mark the jawline a little bit." Each piece answered a different question: texture, skin quality and a slightly cleaner lower-face line.

How did the treatment day go?

The day started with cleansing and a numbing cream applied across the face. Milly mentioned she hadn't eaten breakfast, so our staff gave her a quick snack first; we would rather nobody sit through microneedling hungry. Then came Potenza, passed over the face in sections with the handpiece, followed by Juvelook placed into the skin with fine needles β€” you can see both steps in her video. The fat-dissolving injections along the jawline were the last and shortest step. To finish, we applied a calming sheet mask and gently soothed the skin. Immediately afterwards her face was visibly pink with a few small marks at the injection points, which is the normal, expected look for the first day or so. That is also why I always tell patients not to judge anything in the mirror on treatment day.

Why Juvelook rather than a filler?

Because Milly's concern was skin quality, not volume. A traditional filler mainly adds instant volume to a specific area. Juvelook works differently: once placed in the dermis, its PDLLA microparticles gradually break down and stimulate fibroblasts to make the skin's own new collagen, while the hyaluronic acid hydrates right away. At HERA we offer both Juvelook, which focuses on tone, fine lines and pores, and Juvelook Volume, a higher-concentration formula for volume, lifting and deeper wrinkles. For a young patient whose complaint is dullness, pores and scarring, the standard Juvelook formulation is the logical choice. Adding volume would not have addressed anything she asked about.

What about the jawline fat-dissolving injection?

It was a light refinement, not the main event. At HERA, facial fat-dissolving is offered as our Sok-Sok Face injection, which can target small pockets such as the double chin and jawline. I want to be clear about timing, though: the slimming effect of a fat-dissolving injection appears gradually over a few weeks as the body clears the treated fat. It does not create an instant change for a photo taken a few days later. For Milly it was a small add-on within a longer-term plan β€” in her own words, to mark the jawline "a little bit," not to change her face shape.

What did we not do, and who is this for?

We did not add volume filler, and we did not suggest anything with a longer recovery so close to her photos. We also did not promise that three days would deliver her full result. Results vary from person to person. Collagen-based improvement is also gradual by design. A course of about three Juvelook sessions spaced roughly a month apart is commonly recommended for longer-lasting results, and a series of Potenza sessions is often advised for pores and scarring. This combination suits someone who wants clearer, more even skin texture and better skin quality, and who can allow a few days of mild redness. Every treatment begins with a consultation with a doctor. International patients are treated directly by our board-certified doctors, supported by an English interpreter on-site, and charged the same price as our Korean patients.

Is This for You?

Who this treatment is genuinely for

Signs it may be time to consider it

  • Your skin looks tired in photos even when you feel rested
  • Makeup sits on top of enlarged pores instead of looking smooth
  • Old acne has left shallow scars or uneven texture
  • You have an event or photo shoot coming up and want to plan ahead
  • You want better skin quality rather than a visibly 'done' look

It's a good fit if

  • Your skin looks dull and you want a fresher, more hydrated look
  • Enlarged pores or acne scarring bother you more than lost volume
  • You prefer gradual, natural collagen-based improvement over filler
  • You can allow a few days of mild redness before any important event

Not the right first step if: This is not the right plan if you need zero redness within a day or two, or if your main goal is adding volume. A consultation with a doctor is required first to assess suitability and review any medical conditions or medications.

Good to Know

Questions patients actually ask

Can Potenza and Juvelook give a glow-up in three days?
Partly. The hyaluronic acid in Juvelook hydrates immediately, but the collagen-building effect builds from around three to four weeks, and mild redness may take a few days to settle. More lead time before an event is always better.
Does Potenza hurt?
A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand, so most patients tolerate it well. You may feel mild warmth or a light pricking sensation during the RF microneedling.
What is Juvelook made of?
Juvelook is a collagen-stimulating skin booster made of poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA) combined with hyaluronic acid. The PDLLA prompts your skin to build new collagen, while the hyaluronic acid provides immediate hydration.
How long is the recovery?
Mild redness, swelling or small bumps at the injection points usually subside within a few days. Milly described her own recovery period as between three days and one week.
How many sessions are recommended?
A course of about three Juvelook sessions spaced roughly a month apart is commonly recommended, and a series of Potenza sessions is often advised for pores and scarring. Your doctor will personalize the plan.
