Why combine Thermage FLX with a double chin fat-dissolving injection?

Because they work on different problems in different layers, so one does not replace the other. Thermage FLX is a radiofrequency treatment: it heats the dermis so existing collagen contracts and new collagen is stimulated, which firms and tightens the skin. It does not remove fat. A fat-dissolving injection does the opposite job: a lipolytic solution is placed into a localized fat pocket, where it breaks down fat cells that the body then clears naturally over the following weeks. It does not tighten skin.

Under the chin, both issues often coexist. If you only reduce the fat, loose skin can remain; if you only tighten, a soft fat pocket can still round off the jaw-to-neck line. Pairing them lets us address both in one visit, which matters when the patient lives abroad.

What does 600 shots of Thermage FLX mean?

It is the number of radiofrequency pulses delivered in the session, and Ahran's caption records it as 600 shots. Each shot is one application of the treatment tip to the skin, delivering heat into the dermis while the device cools the surface. The shot count is a planning number, not a quality score: what matters is how those shots are distributed across the areas that need firming and how evenly the energy is delivered. During the session, patients usually feel warmth and brief deep heat pulses; topical numbing cream and the device's cooling keep discomfort low.

How does the double chin fat-dissolving injection work?

At HERA, the double chin injection is part of our Sok-Sok Face Injection. After a facial assessment, injection points are marked across the fat pocket under the chin, topical numbing cream is applied, and the lipolytic solution is delivered with a fine needle. The procedure itself takes about 10–15 minutes, and most patients feel only slight pressure or a mild sting. Over the following weeks, the dissolved fat is gradually metabolized and cleared by the body, so slimming becomes visible over roughly two to four weeks rather than immediately.

One honest point: many patients see meaningful refinement with two to three sessions spaced a few weeks apart, depending on the amount of fat. For a patient visiting from abroad, we discuss at consultation whether a single session fits her goals and how a follow-up could be timed with a future trip.

What is recovery like, and when do results show?

Recovery from this combination is usually short, but the two parts follow different timelines. After Thermage FLX, mild redness or warmth may linger briefly and usually fades within a day. After the fat-dissolving injection, mild swelling, redness or small bruises at the injection sites may appear and typically settle within a few days; cold compresses and avoiding intense heat or alcohol for a couple of days help. Most patients return to daily life right away, which is why this pairing works for someone with a flight to catch — though if you are flying soon after, tell us your dates at consultation so we can plan the order and aftercare.

For results, the injection shows gradual slimming over two to four weeks, and once fat cells are cleared the result is long-lasting with a stable weight. The Thermage tightening can be felt early, with the fuller firming building over two to three months as collagen remodels. Results vary from person to person. What does this combination not do, and what else might you consider?

It is not a deep SMAS lift. Thermage FLX works in the dermis; if the main problem is heavier sagging from the deep support layer, a HIFU lift such as 10THERA, which targets the SMAS, may be the better first step. And a fat-dissolving injection is designed for smaller, localized pockets, not large volumes. Choosing between these is exactly what the consultation is for: I look at whether the fullness under the chin is mostly skin, mostly fat, or both, and recommend only what will show.
