I'm Dr. Jong Hoon Lee, a physician at Gangnam HERA in Seoul. Patients researching a thread lift from abroad usually send me the same message: "How much does a thread lift cost in Korea — and why won't anyone just give me a number?" I will answer that honestly. I do not print a figure here, because the cost of a thread lift is built from decisions made about your face: which threads, how many, which areas, and whether an energy device is added. What I can give you is what moves the cost, how we write the estimate, and one fixed rule — international and local patients pay exactly the same.
Why is there no thread lift price in this article?
Because one figure would be wrong for most of the people reading it. Two patients can both ask for "a thread lift" and need very different treatment. One has early softening along the jawline and needs a small number of threads in one area. Another has a sagging jawline, a heavy mid-face and a loose neck, and may need threads in several areas plus an energy device to firm the deeper layers. A number printed here would be too high for the first person and far too low for the second.
There is a second reason. A low headline figure online often describes a minimal version of the treatment, and the plan changes once someone actually looks at your face. I would rather you see the real plan, in writing, before you decide anything. That is why every HERA estimate is itemised and given to you after a doctor has examined you, and before any treatment begins.
What actually changes the cost of a thread lift in Korea?
Four things: the type of thread, the number of threads, the areas treated, and whether an energy device is combined. Nationality is not on the list. At HERA the same plan costs the same whether you live in Seoul or flew in yesterday.

Anaesthesia is part of the procedure rather than an optional extra: topical numbing cream with local anaesthesia at the insertion points, so the threads can be placed comfortably.
Which HERA thread lift fits which face?
Custom Thread Lifting suits faces that need a lift plus firming at several depths; Premium Thread Lifting suits a collapsed contour and a sagging jawline that need a strong mechanical hold. Both are non-surgical and both use absorbable threads, but they are built differently.
Custom Thread Lifting
Absorbable threads (PDO, PCL or PLLA) are placed with a cannula to reposition sagging tissue and act as a scaffold for new collagen. Ultherapy and/or Titanium is then delivered to firm the deeper layers and refine texture. Thread directions follow your facial structure. Treatment takes about 20 to 30 minutes. Premium Thread Lifting
Biocompatible PLA threads with 360° cones grip and reposition tissue for an even lift, and as the PLA absorbs it keeps stimulating collagen. It is designed for jawlines that have started to sag and facial lines that have collapsed, and treatment takes about 30 to 60 minutes. See the Premium Thread Lifting page.
For both, the lift generally holds about 12 to 24 months as the threads absorb and collagen matures. Results vary from person to person, with skin condition and with the number of threads used.
Is a cheaper thread lift the cheaper choice?
Not necessarily — the cost that matters is what you pay for a result you are still happy with months later. Some threads absorb quickly, and much of their effect can fade within weeks. A thread design that holds tissue firmly and keeps stimulating collagen costs more at the start, but it is doing a different job.
The more common waste of money, in my experience, is the wrong candidate. Threads lift tissue; they do not remove skin or fat. If your jowls are heavy or there is a lot of fat under the chin, threads alone will underdeliver however many are placed, and the honest answer is a different plan. I also do not add threads to reach a figure. More threads are not automatically better; a few threads on the right vector often look more natural than many placed at the wrong angle.
How is a thread lift quoted at HERA?
After a doctor has examined your face, as an itemised written estimate, before anything begins. The steps are the same for everyone:
- Photo consultation (optional): if you are still abroad, a front photo and a side profile in daylight let me tell you which approach is likely and whether threads are a sensible option at all.
- In-person consultation: I assess the direction of sagging, skin quality and structure, and we agree the areas together.
- Written estimate: thread type, areas, any energy device and anaesthesia are listed line by line. You can take it away and decide later.
- No surprises on the day: nothing is added to the plan without your agreement.
An English interpreter joins every visit, so the plan, the risks and the aftercare are explained in full. International and local patients pay exactly the same.
How do I budget a thread lift around a trip to Seoul?
Plan for one treatment visit and a few days of settling, not for repeat sessions during the same trip. The procedure itself takes about 20 to 60 minutes depending on which thread lift is used. Downtime is minimal: mild swelling, tightness or small bruises near the insertion points usually ease within a few days, and exaggerated facial expressions and strenuous movement should be avoided for a short while.
Book the treatment early in your stay rather than the day before you fly, so there is time for a review. Because the lift generally holds for months rather than weeks, most people do not need to plan a thread lift into every visit to Korea.

A thread lift is not a facelift, and no estimate can promise a particular result. Threads reposition tissue and stimulate collagen; they do not remove excess skin or fat, and they are absorbed over time. The lift typically holds around 12 to 24 months and then needs maintaining. Some faces respond more than others. What I can promise is an honest view of whether threads suit you before you spend anything, and an estimate that matches the plan we actually agreed.
