Korean Face Filler: How Long to Stay? Cost, Reviews, Methods

Thinking about Korean face filler during a week in Seoul, but worried the swelling won't be down before your flight home?
Read this before you lock in your dates.
You'll know how filler recovery usually runs from treatment day to day seven, which methods suit which part of the face, what decides the cost and what reviews get right, so you can pick the areas and the day that fit your trip and your budget.
Hello, I'm Dr. Kim Jong Seon, Director of Gangnam HERA Plastic Surgery Clinic and a board member of the International Petit Medical Society.
At HERA, the specialist who consults with you is the one who treats you. The filler is a genuine, sealed product shown to you before use.
I wrote this because the trip-planning mistake I'd most like to prevent with Korean face filler is booking it for the last afternoon before the flight, when swelling and bruising are often at their most visible.
The injections themselves are short. Swelling and bruising from hyaluronic acid filler usually settle over several days to about a week, so plan filler early in your stay, give lips and under-eyes the widest margin, and keep the day before your flight treatment-free.
If you already have flights in mind, send your arrival and departure dates on WhatsApp with the one area you care about most, and ask how many days that area usually needs before you fly. Starting from your real dates makes the rest of this page easier to apply to your own trip.

Who is Korean face filler right for, and when is it the wrong tool?
Filler adds volume. It fits when something is missing: a hollow under the eye, a flat temple, thin lips, a low nasal bridge, a fold beside the mouth that has deepened. It fits poorly when the problem is excess.
If your face reads as wide or chubby because of fat along the jaw or under the chin, adding volume makes it look wider. For localized fat, the option on my menu is Sok-Sok Face Injection, an injection-only treatment with no incisions and no general anesthesia that targets pockets such as a double chin, the jawline, buccal fat and the side cheekbones. If the width comes from the jaw bone itself, neither filler nor injections will narrow it.
Face contouring surgery works on bone, carries a far longer recovery, and is a separate decision from anything in this post.
Rapid weight loss, including on GLP-1 weight-loss injections, can leave the cheeks and temples hollow and make a face look older within months. Filler can replace some of that volume. I'd usually suggest waiting until your weight has been stable for a while, because a face that is still losing fat keeps changing under the filler.
The opposite problem, the overfilled look people call pillow face, tends to come from adding volume to every area, trip after trip.
Which filler methods fit which part of the face?
In short, these are the treatments I'd consider for the concerns people raise most when they search for face filler, with the recovery detail that matters for a trip.
| Treatment | What it changes | Recovery to plan around |
|---|---|---|
| General Facial Fillers | Volume in areas such as the forehead, temples, side cheeks, nasolabial folds and chin | Swelling and bruising usually settle within about a week |
| Eye Rejuvenation Filler | Hollow, tired-looking under-eyes | The thinnest skin on the face; give it the most days |
| Lip Filler | Lip shape and lip corners | Lips usually swell most in the first day or two |
| Nose Filler | The nasal profile, with no incisions | Usually mild swelling; avoid pressing on the nose |
| Sok-Sok Face Injection | Localized fat: double chin, jawline, buccal fat | Swelling, redness or small bruises usually settle within a few days |
A few notes on the areas that change trip planning most. Because under-eye skin is so thin, bruising there can be easier to see and slower to fade. Nose filler refines the profile without surgery, and nose filler in Korea covers what it can and cannot change. For a softer jaw-to-cheek curve, C-Line Lifting Filler places hyaluronic acid along the lower face, and chin filler has its own post.
Sok-Sok runs on a different clock from filler. The session takes 10β15 minutes, usually with topical numbing cream, but slimming appears gradually over 2β4 weeks, and 2β3 sessions spaced a few weeks apart are often recommended. On a single trip you'll usually fly home before the result shows, so treat the first session as the start of a plan.
What decides the cost of face filler in Seoul?
I don't put numbers in a blog post, because the figure for your face comes from your face. These are the things that move it:
- How many areas. Under-eyes alone is a different plan from under-eyes, temples and lips together.
- How much product each area needs. A deep hollow takes more than a fine line.
- The type of product. Hyaluronic acid fillers differ in firmness, and the one suited to lips isn't the one suited to a nose.
- Whether Sok-Sok is part of the plan, and how many sessions.
- Whether you split treatment across two visits instead of doing everything at once.
Two things don't move it. International patients pay the same price as local patients, and you get a written estimate before treatment. Jawline filler price in Korea walks through the same factors for one area. To get the figure for your case, ask on WhatsApp what it would cost, with a front photo and the areas you're considering.
What reviews get right and wrong about filler recovery
Filler threads repeat a handful of claims. Some hold up medically and some don't.
βYou can go out the same evening.β Often true for a small amount in one area. You may still have needle marks and mild swelling, and lips or under-eyes may not look ready for photos that night.
βA bruise means the injector made a mistake.β Not true. The FDA lists bruising, redness, swelling and pain among the common side effects of dermal fillers. Blood-thinning medicines and some supplements can make bruising more likely, so mention them at your consultation, and never stop a prescribed medicine without asking the doctor who prescribed it.
Early firmness is often swelling and product settling, and much of it softens over the first couple of weeks. A lump that is still there after that, or one that is painful, red or warm, should be examined.
βKorean filler always looks subtle.β The subtle look people praise comes from the amount and placement chosen for that face. Any filler can look overdone when too much goes in.
Who injects you and what goes in the syringe
Every clinic page promises a good result, so here is what you can check yourself. At HERA, the specialist who consults with you is the one who performs your treatment; it isn't handed off once the plan is made. We use only genuine, approved products, and the sealed vial is opened in front of you, so you can look at the packaging and label before anything is injected. We don't rush through high volumes.
HERA is also registered with Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare as a medical institution for international patients. If this is your first filler, the first-timer's guide to fillers in Korea covers the consultation itself in more detail.

How many days do you need in Seoul after filler?
Put simply, this is the question that decides your booking, so here is how the first week usually goes with hyaluronic acid filler.
Treatment day. After numbing and the injections, expect some swelling, redness and small needle marks. Most doctors advise skipping alcohol, saunas, hard workouts and firm pressure on the treated area for the first day or so, and sleeping with your head slightly raised.
Days 1 to 3. Swelling usually peaks in the first 48 hours, and lips often look fullest now. Bruises, if you have any, can darken before they fade. Plan museums and walks for these days, not a photo shoot.
Day 7. For many people most of the swelling and bruising has settled by about a week, though under-eye bruising can take longer. The shape is easier to judge at around two weeks, once the product has settled.
Avoid the day before you fly.
Treating on your last afternoon means boarding at peak swelling, with bruises still developing and no time to have a concern looked at in Seoul. Flying itself is generally fine after filler; the concern is being far from the clinic in the first few days.
Say you land at Incheon on a Friday night, fly home the following Saturday, and want lips and under-eyes. HERA is closed on Sundays, so Saturday or Monday is your first chance at a consultation. I'd aim for Monday, or Saturday if you're not too tired: either leaves at least five days for swelling to come down while you're still in Seoul, and if something feels off on day two or three, you're a subway ride away.
If you'd like the injector to see how things have settled before you leave, ask at booking whether a short check fits your dates. If you only want Sok-Sok, swelling matters less, but the slimming won't show before you leave either way.
Risks and side effects to know
Swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness and mild lumpiness at the injection sites are the common reactions, and they usually ease within a few days to about a week. Recovery and results differ from person to person.
As general medicine, most doctors would postpone filler if you have:
- an infection, cold sore or acne flare in the area to be treated
- had a laser treatment or chemical peel on the same area recently
- taken isotretinoin for acne, now or recently
- a pregnancy, or you are breastfeeding
- a known allergy to an ingredient, including the local anesthetic mixed into some fillers
The rare but serious complication is filler entering a blood vessel, which the FDA warns can damage skin and, very rarely, affect vision. Skin that turns pale, blotchy or dusky, pain that keeps getting worse, or any change in your vision is a reason to go to an emergency department straight away, without waiting for a message reply.
For milder concerns after you're home, such as a lump or uneven swelling past the first week, take photos in daylight, send them on WhatsApp, and see a local doctor if it gets worse. The CDC advises medical travelers to keep copies of their records and arrange follow-up care at home, so ask for the name of the product used in each area before you leave.
When you message, add one front photo and one side photo taken in daylight without makeup, and ask whether your concern is a filler question or a Sok-Sok question. Photos from the same angles you see in the mirror make it easier to show exactly what bothers you.

Visiting HERA in Gangnam
HERA is on the 4th floor of 9 Seocho-daero 73-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, about 3 minutes from Gangnam Station. We're open Monday and Friday 10:00β20:00, Tuesday to Thursday 10:00β19:00 and Saturday 10:00β17:00, with a lunch break from 13:00 to 14:00, and closed on Sundays and public holidays. Consultations can run with an English interpreter, and the full menu is on our treatments page.
To start, one photo of the area that bothers you is enough, and you can ask before booking anything. Send it on WhatsApp with the question that matters most for your trip, whether that's how many days to leave or what it would cost for your case. When you come in, I'll examine your face and recommend what fits it, which may be less than you planned.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Q1Can I fly home the day after face filler?
Flying itself is generally fine after hyaluronic acid filler. The reason to leave a few days is swelling, bruising and being close to the clinic if something needs a look, so book filler early in the trip and avoid the day before the flight.Q2How long does face filler last?
Many hyaluronic acid fillers last from several months to a year or longer, with areas that move a lot, such as the lips, often fading sooner. Sok-Sok Face Injection works differently, since it reduces localized fat instead of adding volume.Q3Can filler make a wide face look slimmer?
Not by itself. Filler adds volume, so it can improve balance at the chin or along the C-line but won't reduce width. Localized fat may suit Sok-Sok Face Injection, and width from bone is a surgical question. Your final plan is set at the face-to-face consultation.Q4Can hyaluronic acid filler be reversed if I don't like it?
Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which is one reason it is the common choice for first-time filler. The same enzyme is used urgently if filler blocks a blood vessel.Q5Do international patients pay more at HERA?
No. International patients pay the same price as local patients, and you receive a written estimate before treatment.
