Is there a PDRN eye drop Korea pharmacies sell that will help the thin, tired skin under your eyes, or are you about to pack the wrong thing?
Read this before you fill a suitcase or book a treatment day.
You'll come away knowing what reviews get right and wrong about Korean PDRN, which methods actually reach under-eye skin, what decides the cost of the injected version, and how many recovery days to leave before your flight. That should tell you whether a pharmacy shelf or a clinic chair fits your eyes and your budget.
Hello, I'm Dr. Kim Jong Seon, Director of Gangnam HERA Plastic Surgery Clinic.
At HERA, the specialist who consults with you is the one who treats you. The sealed vial is opened in front of you, foreign patients pay the same price as Korean patients, and you get a written estimate before treatment. Consultations can run with an English interpreter.
I wrote this because βPDRNβ on a pharmacy box and polynucleotide injected by a doctor get talked about as one thing, and people end up expecting a cream to do an injection's job.
A PDRN eye drop is a medicine for the surface of the eye, so it belongs with an ophthalmologist or pharmacist, not with me. If your goal is the skin under your eyes, topical PDRN mostly stays on the surface; the version that reaches the dermis is injected, which at HERA means Rejuran.
Not sure which of those you actually need? Send one daylight photo of your under-eye area on WhatsApp, with the one question bothering you most: fine lines, darkness, or a hollow.

What does Korean pharmacy PDRN actually reach?
When a friend tells you to grab a PDRN eye drop Korea pharmacies stock, they may mean one of three different things, and each goes to a different place.
PDRN (polydeoxyribonucleotide) and PN (polynucleotide) are both made of DNA fragments, usually purified from salmon or trout. A review in Pharmaceutics that compares the two describes PDRN as shorter fragments and PN as longer chains, which changes how each behaves once it is in tissue.
Eye drops go onto the cornea and the lining of the eye. If dry or irritated eyes are what brought you here, take that question to an eye doctor or a pharmacist. It's outside what I treat, and I'd rather say so than guess.
Creams and serums sit on the skin. Dermatologists often refer to the β500 Dalton ruleβ: compounds much larger than about 500 daltons cross the outer skin barrier poorly, as Bos and Meinardi set out in Experimental Dermatology. DNA fragments are far larger than that. A PDRN cream may feel hydrating, but I wouldn't count on it to rebuild the dermis under your eyes.
Injection places polynucleotide directly in the dermis.
| Option | Where it goes | Who should guide it |
|---|---|---|
| PDRN eye drops | Surface of the eye | Eye doctor or pharmacist |
| PDRN cream or serum | Mostly the top layers of skin | You, after a patch test |
| Injected PN (Rejuran) | The dermis | A doctor, after examining you |

What do reviews of Korean PDRN get right, and what do they miss?
Review threads about Korean PDRN products, including the ones people look up by brand name, tend to repeat three claims.
βMy skin looked glowier within days.β That's plausible. Most PDRN creams are also moisturizers, and well-hydrated skin reflects light more evenly. The effect is real, and it usually fades once you stop using the product.
βIt does what the salmon injection does, without needles.β Medically, no. The injection studies don't transfer to a cream, for the barrier reason above.
βOne session fixed my dark circles.β Dark circles have several causes: pigment, veins showing through thin skin, or the shadow cast by a hollow along the bone. A booster can improve skin quality. A shadow from a tear-trough hollow usually needs volume, which is a different treatment.
On the injected side, a systematic review in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that polynucleotide injections were associated with improvements in skin-quality measures across the studies it included. Most of those studies were small, so I treat the evidence as encouraging rather than settled.
Who an under-eye booster suits, and who should look elsewhere
A booster tends to suit thin, crepey under-eye skin and fine lines that show when you smile, in someone who wants smoother skin rather than more volume.
It is the wrong tool for a deep groove along the bone, where eye rejuvenation filler is the more relevant conversation (I cover what drives that estimate in under-eye filler pricing in Korea). It also won't flatten puffy under-eye fat pads, which are usually a surgical question.
Say you're in your mid-30s. The skin under your eyes creases when you smile and has a grayish tone, and you can't feel a real groove along the bone. You have six days in Seoul. In that situation I'd think about a booster first, booked early in the trip, and I'd hold off on adding filler unless the exam shows a hollow that a booster can't address.
If you want a sense of what a booster around the eyes can and can't change, Rejuran around the eyes goes through it in more detail.
What decides the cost of Rejuran under the eyes?
I don't publish figures, and HERA's prices are the same for foreign and Korean patients. These are the things that move the cost for your case:
- Which product. The menu lists Rejuran, Rejuran HB and Rejuran I, and they differ.
- The area. Under-eyes only, or the under-eyes as part of a full-face session.
- How many sessions. Boosters are commonly given as a short series spaced a few weeks apart, which may mean more than one trip.
- What else is done that trip. Pairing a booster with eye rejuvenation filler changes the plan and the estimate.
You get a written estimate before treatment, so ask what it covers before you agree to anything. To get a figure for your own case, ask on WhatsApp what it would cost, with a photo of your under-eyes and how many sessions you're hoping to fit in.
Genuine product, one doctor, start to finish
The specialist who consults with you is the one who performs your treatment; it isn't handed off. That matters under the eyes, where where and how deep each injection goes is the whole procedure.
Only approved materials are used, and the sealed vial is opened in front of you, before the needle goes in.
My approach is to recommend only what you need, without overtreatment, and we don't rush through high volumes. HERA's directors also take part in academic conferences at home and abroad.
How many days does recovery take before your flight?
Recovery from an under-eye booster is usually short, though the thin skin there bruises more easily than the cheeks. A general picture:
- Same day. Small raised bumps where each injection went, some redness and tenderness. The bumps usually flatten within a day or so.
- Day 3. Most bumps are gone. If a bruise formed, this is often when it's most visible, shifting from purple toward yellow.
- Day 7. Bruising has usually faded or can be covered with concealer.
Healing speed differs from person to person, so build in slack rather than planning to the hour.
Before you fly
Avoid booking the injection for the day before your flight. Put it in the first half of your trip so that any bruise or swelling has several days to settle while you're still in Seoul.
For trip length, that means one session fits a short stay if it sits near the start. A full series spread weeks apart doesn't fit one short visit, so ask at booking how the sessions could be split across trips.
Risks and side effects to know
Common, temporary reactions are redness, small bumps, mild swelling, tenderness and bruising, which usually settle over a few days to about a week.
As general medical guidance, you should wait or skip a booster if you have an infection, a cold sore or inflamed skin in the area; a recent laser treatment or peel there; current or recent isotretinoin use; pregnancy or breastfeeding; or an allergy to fish or salmon-derived ingredients, since Rejuran is made from purified salmon DNA.
If after you fly home the swelling grows instead of shrinking, or the area becomes hot, increasingly painful or spreading red, or you develop a fever, see a doctor locally without waiting. Any change in your vision needs urgent care. The US CDC's advice for medical travelers is to keep copies of your treatment records and plan follow-up care at home before you go, which is worth doing even for a small injection.
Once your travel dates are set, send them on WhatsApp with a side-lit photo of your under-eyes, and ask which day of your trip would leave the most room for recovery.

Visiting HERA in Gangnam
HERA is at 4F, 9 Seocho-daero 73-gil, Seocho-gu, Seoul, 3 minutes from Gangnam Station. Hours are Monday and Friday 10:00 to 20:00, Tuesday to Thursday 10:00 to 19:00, and Saturday 10:00 to 17:00, with lunch from 13:00 to 14:00. We're closed on Sundays and public holidays. HERA is registered with Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare as a Foreign Patient Attraction Medical Institution.
You don't need to have booked anything to ask. A message on WhatsApp with one photo and the question you most want answered is enough to start, whether it's βis a booster right for my under-eyes?β or βwhat would it cost for my case?β. When you come in, the doctor will examine the area with you and recommend what fits your eyes and your plans, and you get a written estimate before any treatment.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Q1Can I use Korean PDRN skincare around my eyes?
Many people do. Patch-test a small amount on your jaw or inner arm first, keep the product out of the eye itself, and stop if it stings or turns the skin red. Expect hydration rather than a structural change.Q2Is Rejuran the same thing as PDRN?
They are related. Both are made of DNA fragments from salmon or trout, but Rejuran is a polynucleotide (PN), which is made of longer chains than PDRN. Both appear in injectable products and skincare, and that is part of why the names get mixed up.Q3Can I fly the day after an under-eye booster?
Flying is generally not the issue. The concern is having no time left in Seoul if a bruise or swelling appears. That's why it's better to book the session early in your trip and keep it off the day before your flight.Q4How many sessions do people usually plan?
Skin boosters are commonly given as a short series spaced a few weeks apart. How many make sense for your under-eyes is decided at the in-person exam, and it may mean splitting sessions across more than one visit to Seoul.Q5Do I need to speak Korean for the consultation?
No. HERA offers consultations with an English interpreter, so you can go through your questions, the risks and the written estimate in English.
