Rejuran Healer Korea for Skin Over 40: Who It Suits
Dr. Kim Jong Seon · Filler Specialist8 min readOn this page
Rejuran Healer is an injectable skin booster made of polynucleotides (PN) purified from salmon DNA. It is placed in tiny amounts across the face to help thin, dull or finely lined skin repair itself, and it adds almost no volume and does not lift. If you're over 40, or arranging a session for a parent, and searched "rejuran healer korea" because the visit has to fit inside a short trip, the usual worry is the small bumps it leaves and whether they will have settled before the flight home. At Gangnam HERA in Seoul, the board-certified doctor who consults with you is the one who performs the injections, and an English interpreter is there for the consultation.
The visit itself is short. Diagnosis and treatment can happen on the same day, the numbing cream takes longer than the injections, and the raised bumps at each injection point usually flatten within a day or two. Small bruises, when they appear, can take several days to fade. Most published treatment protocols use a short series of sessions a few weeks apart, so one trip usually means one session, and the rest of the plan is worth settling before you leave Seoul.

What is Rejuran Healer, and why "healer"?
Rejuran Healer is the original formula in the Korean Rejuran line, and in Korea most people simply call it Rejuran. The word "healer" points to its purpose: supporting the skin's own repair and hydration instead of filling a fold or relaxing a muscle.
Polynucleotides are long chains of DNA fragments. A review in Pharmaceutics comparing polynucleotides (PN) with the shorter polydeoxyribonucleotides (PDRN) describes PN as forming a hydrating, scaffold-like network in the dermis, while both act on the signals that help fibroblasts repair tissue. In plain terms, Rejuran Healer gives the skin material and a nudge. Your own skin does the rebuilding, which is why the change is gradual.
HERA's Rejuran page lists three versions:
- Rejuran (the Healer formula), for overall texture, elasticity and fine lines
- Rejuran HB, a version that includes hyaluronic acid, often considered when dryness is part of the picture
- Rejuran I, made for the thin skin around the eyes
You may also see Rejuran S, a denser version used for acne scars, mentioned on forums; it is not one of the versions listed on HERA's treatment page. On the evidence, a systematic review in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that published studies generally reported improvements in skin quality, texture and fine lines, while many of those studies were small and short. That's encouraging, and it's also a reason to keep expectations modest.
Who it suits after 40, and who it doesn't
Rejuran Healer fits skin whose main problem is quality: crepey cheeks, fine lines, dullness, rough texture, the tired look that years of sun leave behind. It does little for jowls, deep folds or hollows, and someone hoping it will lift a jawline is usually better served by a different treatment.
| What you see in the mirror | Rejuran Healer | Often a closer match |
|---|---|---|
| Thin, crepey cheek skin; fine lines | Good fit | Usually fine on its own |
| Thin skin and fine lines under the eyes | Rejuran I is made for this area | Eye rejuvenation filler if the issue is hollowness |
| Dull, rough texture; visible pores | Good fit | Potenza Exosome when scars are the main concern |
| Jowls, a softer jawline | Weak fit | Lifting, such as AI-Mapping Ultherapy or threads |
| Deep folds, hollow temples | Weak fit | Filler |
Age on its own isn't a reason to rule it out. A 62-year-old with sun-thinned skin and little sagging can be a closer fit than a 45-year-old whose main complaint is jowls. What matters is which of those two problems bothers the person most when they look in the mirror.
What should you ask if you're booking for a parent?
Three questions settle most of the plan, whether the face is yours at 45 or your mother's at 68.
Is the main concern texture or sag? If it's sag, Rejuran Healer alone will probably disappoint, and it's better to hear that in the consultation room than at home a month later. Many people over 50 have both, and the doctor may discuss a combination.
Where will the rest of the series happen? One session per trip is the realistic pattern for most travelers. Ask what a sensible interval is, and whether continuing with a qualified doctor at home makes sense for your parent.
What medicines and allergies matter? Blood thinners, aspirin and some supplements make bruising more likely, and a known fish allergy needs to be raised before anything is injected. Bring the actual list of medicines, not a memory of it. Don't stop a prescribed blood thinner on your own to reduce bruising; that decision belongs to the doctor who prescribed it.
If you are the one translating, the clinic's English interpreter lets you listen instead of interpreting.
What a Rejuran Healer appointment in Seoul involves
At HERA the visit runs from diagnosis to treatment in one day, which suits a short stay. The order usually looks like this:
- A consultation with the doctor, with the English interpreter if you need one, covering your concern, medical history and medicines.
2. 3. The injections: many small, shallow injection points across the area being treated. Most people describe a series of stings, and thinner areas can feel sharper. 4. A short rest, then aftercare instructions before you leave.
Those shallow injection points are what create the small raised bumps afterwards. The bumps are the product sitting in the skin, and they are expected.
Who performs it, and what goes into the syringe?
At HERA, the specialist who consults with you is the one who performs your treatment; it is never handed off to someone else. The clinic has three board-certified plastic surgeons: Dr. Kim Jong Seon, Dr. Lee Jong Hoon and Dr. Han Jin Yi. Dr. Kim Jong Seon, who reviewed this article, is a Board Member of the International Petit Medical Society and of the Korean Society of Aesthetic Surgery (KSAS). The clinic states that it uses genuine products and aims for conscientious care without overtreatment.
Whichever clinic you choose, it's reasonable to ask to see the box and the sealed product before it's opened, and to ask which version (Rejuran, HB or I) is going into which area.
How long do the bumps last, and when can you fly?
The bumps usually flatten within one to two days, redness fades in a similar window, and pinpoint bruises can last several days. Book the session at least two to three days before your flight.
- Same day: visible bumps at the injection points, some redness and tenderness. Skip makeup for the rest of the day.
- Days 1–3: the bumps flatten for most people; any bruises become visible and start fading. Saunas, alcohol and hard workouts are usually avoided in these first days.
- Day 7: redness and bruising have usually settled. The gradual change in texture is something people tend to notice over the following weeks.
Before you fly
Avoid booking Rejuran Healer the day before your flight. A gap of a few days means that if a bruise darkens or a spot stays red and tender, you are still in Seoul to have it checked.
The U.S. CDC's medical tourism guidance makes the same general point for any procedure abroad: leave time for recovery before travel, and carry a record of what was done so a doctor at home can follow up.
Send the dates you'll be in Seoul and a daylight photo of the area on WhatsApp. With those, the doctor can tell you whether Rejuran Healer suits it and which day of your trip leaves a comfortable gap before the flight.

Side effects and reasons to wait
Rejuran Healer is generally well tolerated, but it is still an injection.
- Common and temporary: redness, swelling, small bumps, pinpoint bruising, tenderness.
- Less common: small lumps or redness that lasts longer than a week.
- Rare: infection at an injection point or an allergic reaction, which needs prompt medical attention.
Treatment is usually postponed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a known allergy to fish or salmon-derived products, with an active skin infection, cold sore or eczema flare on the area, or shortly after another procedure on the same skin. Whether you're a candidate is decided at the in-person consultation, after the doctor has seen your skin and your medicine list. Results vary from person to person, and the amount of change can't be predicted in advance.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Q1Is Rejuran Healer the same thing as Rejuran?
Yes, in everyday use. Rejuran Healer is the full name of the original formula, and clinics and patients in Korea usually shorten it to Rejuran. Rejuran HB and Rejuran I are related versions with a different composition or target area.Q2Does Rejuran Healer hurt?
Numbing cream is applied first, and most people describe the injections as a series of stings. Areas with thin skin, such as around the eyes, can feel sharper. If you're nervous about needles, say so in the consultation.Q3How many Rejuran Healer sessions do people usually have?
Published protocols commonly use a short series of sessions spaced a few weeks apart. For travelers, that usually means one session per trip, with the next one planned on a later visit or with a qualified doctor at home.Q4Can Rejuran Healer be used under the eyes?
The thin under-eye skin is usually treated with Rejuran I, a version made for that area. If the problem is hollowness, an eye rejuvenation filler may be discussed instead. Bruising under the eyes can take a little longer to fade, so leave extra days before a flight.Q5Can I combine Rejuran Healer with a lifting treatment on the same trip?
Sometimes. Skin quality and sagging are different problems, and many people over 50 have both, so a lifting treatment and Rejuran Healer may be considered together. The doctor looks at whether both suit you and in which order; combining treatments can also mean more days of visible redness before your flight.
