How Much Is Botox in Korea? What Actually Sets the Price

I'm Dr. Jong Seon Kim, a plastic surgeon at Gangnam HERA in Seoul and a board member of the International Petit Medical Society, and most of my clinical day is spent on fillers and injectables. The first message I receive from patients abroad is very often a single line: "How much is botox in Korea? Can you just tell me the price?" My honest answer is that I won't put a number on this page, and I would like to explain why before you read anything else. What you pay depends on which areas we treat, how much toxin your muscles need, whether we use a Korean-made or an imported product, and how often you plan to repeat it. A figure without those four answers is an advertisement, not a quote. What I can commit to is this: after a consultation you receive an itemised written estimate before anything begins, and international and local patients pay exactly the same.
Why won't I put a botox price on this page?
Because a single headline number is rarely the number a patient actually pays, and I don't want you to plan a trip around a figure that will change in the room. Botox is priced by what is injected, where, and with which product. A small area such as the frown lines between the brows needs far less toxin than a strong jaw muscle. The same area can also be quoted with a Korean-made toxin or an imported one, and those are different line items.
There is a second reason. Units of toxin are not directly interchangeable between brands, so "price per unit" comparisons between clinics are often comparing different things. I would rather give you a price that is true for your face than a number that looks good in a search result.
What actually changes the cost of botox in Korea?
Four things decide the figure: the area, the dose, the product and how often you repeat it.
- The area. At HERA our botox list covers forehead lines, frown lines (glabella), crow's feet, jaw slimming (masseter), the shoulder line (trapezius) and underarm sweating. Each is planned and priced as its own area.
- The dose. A larger or stronger muscle needs more toxin. Two people asking for "jaw botox" can need quite different amounts, which is why I examine the muscle before I quote.
- The product. We use Korean-made toxins and imported ones. The brand is written on your estimate, and it is one of the things that moves the total.
- How often. Results generally last about 3~4 months, so most people who like the result come back. A year of maintenance costs more than one visit, and it is fairer to plan for that honestly.
Combining areas in one visit also changes the estimate. Many patients do frown lines and crow's feet together, or jaw and shoulder line together; each area is still listed separately so you can see what you are paying for.
Which botox brands does HERA use, and does the brand change the price?
We use four botulinum toxin type A products, and yes, the brand is one of the lines on your estimate. All four work by the same mechanism — they temporarily relax the targeted muscle — and all four are used for the same areas at HERA.

What is included when you pay for botox at HERA?
A doctor's consultation, marking of the injection points, the injection by the doctor, cooling afterwards and written aftercare guidance — and all of it is on the estimate you see first. The injection itself usually takes about 5~10 minutes. Most people go straight back to their day; you avoid rubbing the area, lying down and heat such as saunas or hard exercise for a few hours.
If a review visit is part of your plan, it is written on the estimate. Please ask rather than assume — I would rather you know exactly what the figure covers than discover it later. The same estimate format applies whether you live in Seoul or flew in yesterday.
How should you compare botox prices between clinics?
Compare the same area, the same product and the same approach to dose — and ask who holds the needle. A lower number for a different product, or for a smaller dose, is not a saving; it is a different treatment.
- Ask for the product name. Imported or Korean-made, and which brand.
- Ask how the dose is decided. "Standard" doses are a starting point, not an examination.
- Ask whether the price is per area or per unit, and whether a review is included.
- Ask who injects. Placement and dose shape the result more than the brand does.

How should you budget for botox over a year?
Budget for maintenance rather than a single session, because the effect is temporary by design. Most people notice the change within 3~7 days, see the full result at around two weeks, and find it fades gradually after about 3~4 months. Results vary from person to person. Dose and area both play a part.
Different goals follow different rhythms. Jaw slimming is usually planned as a series; I have set out what drives that cost in how much masseter botox costs in Korea. The honest limits
Botox relaxes muscle. It does not fill hollows, it does not lift loose skin and it does not last indefinitely; it is a maintenance treatment. It is also not for everyone — it is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for people with neuromuscular disorders, so please tell me your medical history and medications. What I can promise is a clear plan, a written price before anything begins, and a conservative dose I would rather add to later than regret.
