How Much Is Masseter Botox in Korea? What Decides the Cost

On this page
I'm Dr. Jong Seon Kim, a plastic surgeon at Gangnam HERA in Seoul and a board member of the International Petit Medical Society, and most of my clinical day is spent on fillers and injectables. Jaw slimming is one of the treatments international patients plan a Seoul trip around, and the question usually arrives with a front-facing photo: "How much is masseter botox in Korea — and how many times will I need it?" I won't print a price here, because the honest figure depends on your muscle: how large and strong it is, whether both sides match, which product we use and how many sessions you plan. What I will do is examine the muscle, tell you whether botox is even the right tool for your jaw, and give you an itemised written estimate before anything begins. International and local patients pay exactly the same.
Why isn't there a masseter botox price on this page?
Because the dose is decided by your muscle, and the dose is what the price follows. A slim face with a mildly active jaw and a broad face with a powerful chewing muscle both ask for "jaw botox", but they do not need the same amount. A number published before I have felt the muscle would be either too high for one of them or too low for the other.
The same applies to comparisons. Units are not directly interchangeable between toxin brands, so a "per unit" figure from one clinic cannot be laid next to another clinic's figure for a different product. I explain the general picture in how much botox costs in Korea; this page is about the jaw specifically.

What decides the cost of masseter botox?
Muscle size and strength, symmetry, the product and the number of sessions you plan.
- Muscle size and strength. I ask you to clench and feel the muscle on each side. A larger, harder muscle needs a larger dose.
- Symmetry. Many people chew more on one side, so one masseter is bigger. The two sides are often dosed differently, and that is on the estimate.
- The product. All four toxins we use — Allergan Botox, Xeomin, Coretox and Newlux — list jaw slimming as an area. Korean-made products are generally the more accessible line.
- How many sessions. The slimming effect builds over time with regular treatment, so most people plan a series rather than a single visit.
- Other areas in the same visit. Some patients add the shoulder line (trapezius); each area is listed separately.
Is masseter botox the right treatment for your jaw?
Only if the width comes from muscle — and it is worth knowing that before you spend anything. The masseter is the chewing muscle at the angle of the jaw. When it is enlarged, the lower face looks square, and relaxing it lets the muscle reduce in bulk.
If the fullness is mostly fat, toxin will not change it; a fat-dissolving approach such as Sok-Sok Face Injection for the jawline is the more logical tool. If the width is bone, no injection will change it. If the problem is loose skin along the jaw, that is a lifting question. Our guide to botox for the jawline shows how I tell these apart in the chair, and I will tell you plainly if botox is the wrong answer — even if that means there is nothing to quote.
How many masseter botox sessions should you budget for?
Plan for repeat sessions, because the effect generally lasts about 3~4 months and the slimming builds with regular treatment. The muscle-relaxing effect usually begins within 3~7 days, and the full relaxation is visible at around two weeks. The visible slimming of the face follows more slowly, because a muscle that is used less reduces in bulk over weeks.
Retreatment is usually every 3~4 months while you are building the result. I will not promise a fixed number of sessions, because muscles respond differently. Results vary from person to person. Our masseter botox before and after guide sets out a realistic timeline, and it is the most useful way to judge whether the budget is worth it for you.

Which product is used for masseter botox at HERA?
Any of our four toxins can slim the masseter; the choice depends on how often you will repeat it and your previous history. Allergan Botox is the original and most-studied brand. Xeomin and Coretox are complexing-protein-free, which is associated with a lower theoretical risk of resistance — a reasonable consideration for a muscle treated regularly. Newlux is a Korean option positioned for value.
Because the jaw is treated repeatedly, the product choice matters more to the total over a year than it does for a single forehead session. I have written a fuller comparison of Korean botox and American botox if you want to understand the trade-offs before we talk.
What does a masseter botox visit include?
A doctor's examination, marking, the injection by the doctor, cooling and aftercare guidance — usually about 5~10 minutes of treatment. I check the muscle with you clenching and relaxed, mark the injection points within the muscle, inject with a fine needle and cool the area.
Downtime is minimal. For a few hours afterwards, avoid rubbing or massaging the jaw, lying down and heat such as saunas or hard exercise. Toxin is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with neuromuscular disorders, so please share your medical history. Most unwanted outcomes — an uneven smile, a hollow under the cheekbone — come from placement and dose rather than the product, and our masseter botox gone wrong guide explains how they are avoided.
What patients ask me next
"Can I do it on a short trip?"
Yes — the treatment itself is quick. The slimming appears weeks later, after you are home, so photograph your jaw before treatment to compare fairly.
"Can I combine it with other treatments?"
Often, yes. Some patients add skin botox along the jawline and lower face for texture; Korean skin botox before and after explains what that adds. Others want underarm sweating treated in the same visit — see hyperhidrosis treatment in South Korea.
"What if I stop?"
The muscle gradually regains its activity and bulk, and the face returns towards how it was. Nothing is locked in.

The honest limits
Masseter botox slims muscle; it does not remove fat, reshape bone or tighten skin, and the effect is temporary by design. Some jaws respond more than others. What I can promise is that I will check whether your width is muscle before I suggest it, dose each side for what it needs, and write the price down before anything begins.
Book a consultation
If you would like a real estimate for your jaw, send a front photo and a photo while clenching your teeth. We will arrange a consultation in Gangnam, or a photo consultation first if you are still abroad. An English interpreter joins every visit, and you receive an itemised written estimate before anything begins — international and local patients pay exactly the same.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Q1How much is masseter botox in Korea?
It depends on the size and strength of your masseter muscle, whether the two sides need different doses, the product and how many sessions you plan. HERA gives an itemised written estimate after examination, and international and local patients pay the same.Q2How many masseter botox sessions will I need?
Most people plan a series, because the effect generally lasts about 3~4 months and the slimming builds with regular treatment; retreatment is usually every 3~4 months. The number of sessions varies from person to person.Q3When will my jaw look slimmer after masseter botox?
The muscle-relaxing effect usually begins within 3~7 days and is fully visible around two weeks, but the visible slimming follows more slowly as the muscle reduces in bulk over the following weeks.Q4Which toxin does HERA use for masseter botox?
Any of HERA's four toxins — Allergan Botox, Xeomin, Coretox or Newlux — can be used for jaw slimming. The choice depends on how often you will repeat it, your previous history and the price line you prefer.Q5Will masseter botox work if my jaw is wide from fat?
No; botox only reduces muscle bulk. Fat along the jawline is better suited to a fat-dissolving treatment, and width from bone will not change with any injection.
