Weighing a Juvelook Volume Korea trip because your cheeks or temples look hollower than they used to, but worried you'll fly home looking filled or puffy?
Read this before you book a session or a flight.
By the end you'll know what decides the cost, what results look like and when they appear, and how the method compares with hyaluronic acid filler. That should help you judge which one fits your face, your calendar and your budget.
Hello, I'm Dr. Kim Jong Seon, Director, Gangnam HERA Plastic Surgery Clinic.
At HERA, the specialist who consults with you is the one who performs your treatment, and the sealed vial is opened in front of you. You can also message us on WhatsApp in English, and we review your goals and photos before you book a single flight.
I'm writing about Juvelook Volume Korea because the word 'Volume' leads many people to expect a filler result on the day. Then they judge the treatment at the end of the first week, long before new collagen has had time to form.
Juvelook Volume is a poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA) injectable, so your own collagen gradually rebuilds over time rather than showing up on the day. It suits people who can wait and plan more than one session. If you need visible shape before your flight home, hyaluronic acid (HA) filler is usually the better tool.
If you can't tell whether your hollows come from lost volume or from sagging, send one front photo and one side photo taken in daylight on WhatsApp, with the one question you most want answered. One photo is enough to start, and you can ask before booking anything.

What is Juvelook Volume, and how is it different from filler?
Standard Juvelook is a PDLLA collagen-stimulating booster meant for smoother texture, refined pores and firmness, and it works within the skin itself. The Volume version is generally described as carrying more PDLLA and being placed deeper, under the skin, where the aim is to restore some of the soft padding that thins with age or weight loss.
The mechanism is what changes expectations. PDLLA particles are biodegradable. Around them, the body lays down new collagen over a period of weeks while the particles slowly break down. Most of the fullness you see on the day is the fluid the product is mixed in, and that settles within days. What remains later is your own tissue.
HA filler works the other way round: the gel itself is the volume, so the shape is there straight away, and it can be dissolved with an enzyme if needed. The US Food and Drug Administration groups poly-L-lactic acid, a close relative of PDLLA, together with hyaluronic acid among dermal filler materials, which is why you'll see both discussed side by side.
Our treatment menu lists Juvelook. If it's specifically the Volume version you've read about, ask for it by name when you message. For the skin-quality side of the same product, there's a separate guide to Juvelook as a skin booster.

Juvelook vs Sculptra and HA filler: which method fits a hollow face?
Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA); Juvelook uses PDLLA. Both are collagen stimulators, both work gradually, and both are usually given as a course rather than a single visit. The practical differences people notice tend to be in how the product is prepared, how deep it is placed and how much massage is advised afterwards. Sculptra isn't on our menu, so I'm comparing materials here, not offering a choice between them.
| Juvelook Volume (PDLLA) | HA filler | |
|---|---|---|
| What makes the volume | Your own new collagen | The gel itself |
| When you see it | Gradually, over weeks to months | Once the first swelling settles |
| Usual number of visits | A course spaced weeks apart | Often one, sometimes a top-up |
| Can it be dissolved? | No | Yes, with an enzyme |
| Typical fit | Spread-out hollowing, thin skin | One defined hollow that needs shape |
When the hollow sits in one spot with a clear edge, such as a sunken temple or a deep groove beside the nose, I lean toward HA filler, which is on our menu as facial fillers. HA filler carries its own rare but serious risk of injection into a blood vessel, as any filler does. When the loss is spread across the cheek and temple and the skin also looks thin, a collagen stimulator makes more sense, because the goal is quality and padding rather than a sculpted line.
Who is Juvelook Volume for, and who should pick something else?
The question I want answered first is a simple one. If you gently lift the skin at your cheekbone with a fingertip, does the hollow below it fade? If it does, part of what you see is tissue descending, and adding volume to a face that is sagging mostly adds weight. In that case lifting, such as thread lifting, deserves the conversation first.
Say you're 56, you lost weight over the last two years, and your temples and the area beside your mouth look flatter, while your jawline still holds. You have six days in Seoul and don't want anyone at work to notice a sudden change. That is close to the profile collagen stimulators were designed for, since the change arrives slowly, after you're home. What I'd want to plan with you is the next session, because one session on one trip is a start, not a full course.
Juvelook Volume is a poor fit if you need a visible change by a fixed date, such as a wedding next month, or if a single deep hollow needs structural support. It is also the wrong tool if your main concern is heavy jowls or a loose neck. People who prefer something reversible usually feel more comfortable with HA filler.
Results: when will you see a change?
On the day, the area can look fuller than you expected. That is mostly fluid and swelling. By the end of the first week your face often looks close to how it did before, and this is the point where people decide it didn't work. It's too early to tell.
For many people, a softer, fuller contour starts to show from around a month, and builds further over the following months and with later sessions. Because the volume is your own collagen, it tends to fade gradually as well, rather than disappearing all at once. How long it holds depends on your age, your skin, how many sessions you have and how your tissue responds.
What decides the cost of Juvelook Volume in Korea?
There is no single figure for this treatment, because a few things move it for each person:
- How much product you need. The number of vials follows the amount of volume lost and how many areas are treated.
- Which areas. Temples alone, the mid-cheek, or the full face are planned differently.
- How many sessions. A course spaced weeks apart, and whether you'll return to Seoul for the later sessions, shapes the total.
- Combinations. Pairing it with HA filler or another skin booster on the same visit changes the plan.
At HERA, foreign patients pay the same price as Korean patients, and you receive a written estimate before treatment. To get the figure for your own face, ask on WhatsApp what it would cost for your case and attach a front photo. The Juvelook cost guide goes further into how a course is priced.
The doctor who plans it injects it
With PDLLA, depth and spread decide a great deal. Product placed too shallow or bunched in one spot is a common cause of the small bumps people worry about, so who holds the needle matters as much as the product name.
At HERA, the specialist who consults with you performs your treatment personally; it is never handed off. A dermatologist and a plastic surgeon can see you together in one consultation, which helps when the question is part skin quality and part contour. We use only genuine, approved products, the sealed vial is opened in front of you, and we follow strict sterilization and single-use disposable standards. I'm a board member of the Korean Society of Aesthetic Surgery and of the International Petit Medical Society, and we don't rush through high volumes.
One thing worth doing anywhere you're treated: note the product name and lot number before you leave, so a doctor at home knows exactly what was injected.
Your recovery in Seoul, from day one to day seven
Day one. Expect injection marks, some swelling, tenderness and possibly a bruise or two. Many doctors suggest skipping alcohol, saunas and hard exercise for a day or two.
Day three. For many people the swelling has largely settled and bruises are fading. Small firm spots under the skin can still be felt as the fluid absorbs.
Day seven. The temporary fullness is usually gone, and your face looks much as it did before the injection. That is expected at this stage.
Before you fly
avoid booking the injection for the day before your flight. Swelling and bruising are usually most visible in the first day or two, and if anything unusual appears you want to be in Seoul, not in the air. Earlier in your trip is better.
Risks and side effects to know
The common reactions are temporary: swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness and small palpable bumps that usually settle over days. Less often, lumps can appear weeks or months later. Delayed nodules and foreign-body reactions have been reported after poly-L-lactic acid injections, in some cases long after treatment, according to a case report in the Annals of Dermatology. Rarely, any injectable can enter a blood vessel, which needs urgent care.
As general medicine, it's wise to wait or talk it through first if you have an infection or active inflammation in the area, are pregnant or breastfeeding, had a laser or peel there recently, have taken isotretinoin recently, have a history of keloids or an autoimmune condition, or are allergic to any ingredient. Results also differ from person to person, so the final plan is made face to face.
If something changes after you fly home, send a photo on WhatsApp. If you notice a hard lump that keeps growing, pain that worsens, or skin turning pale or dusky, see a local doctor the same day. The CDC's medical tourism guidance also suggests bringing copies of your treatment records home. The Juvelook side effects guide covers what is normal and what is not in more detail.
If your dates are already fixed, send them on WhatsApp with a side photo of the area that bothers you, and ask which day of your trip would be the one to book.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Q1How many Juvelook Volume sessions do people usually plan?
Collagen stimulators are usually given as a course of more than one session, spaced several weeks apart, because collagen builds gradually. How many you need depends on how much volume has been lost and how your tissue responds, which is assessed at the consultation.Q2Can I have HA filler and Juvelook Volume on the same trip?
Some people combine them, using HA filler for a defined hollow that needs shape now and a collagen stimulator for wider, gradual support. Whether that suits your face, and in which areas, is decided once your face has been examined in person.Q3Does a Juvelook Volume injection hurt?
Most people describe pressure and stinging at the injection points rather than strong pain. Numbing methods for collagen-stimulator injections vary, so ask at your consultation which one will be used for you.Q4How soon can I fly after the injection?
Flying a few days after a superficial injectable is generally fine for many people, but avoid booking the treatment the day before your flight. Swelling and bruising are most visible in the first day or two, and it helps to be nearby if anything unusual appears.Q5Can I continue the course with a doctor back home?
Possibly, but PDLLA products are not available in every country, so ask your local doctor first whether they use it. Keep a note of the product name and lot number from your treatment in Seoul so they know exactly what was injected.
