I'm Dr. Jong Seon Kim, a plastic surgeon at Gangnam HERA in Seoul and a board member of the International Petit Medical Society, and most of my clinical day is spent on fillers and injectables. The message I receive most often about fat dissolving injections is a short one: "How much are fat dissolving injections in Korea? I just need a number before I plan my trip." I understand why you want a number, and I am not going to print one here β not to hide it, but because a single figure would be wrong for almost everyone who reads it. The price depends on whether the face or the body is treated, how many zones, how much solution each zone needs and how many sessions it takes. At HERA you receive an itemised written estimate after a doctor has assessed you, and international and local patients pay exactly the same.
What decides the price of fat dissolving injections in Korea?
Four things decide it: the area, the number of zones, the amount injected into each zone, and the number of sessions. Everything else on an estimate follows from those four.
- Area β a facial pocket such as a double chin is a different treatment from a body zone such as the abdomen or thighs.
- Number of zones β one zone, or several treated in the same visit. Each is planned and listed on its own.
- Amount per zone β dosing and injection points are mapped per patient and per zone, so a small, soft pocket and a larger, firmer one are not planned the same way.
- Number of sessions β fat dissolving works as a course, and the planned course matters more than the first visit.
If you add another treatment on the same day, it appears as a separate line. I would rather you see every item than receive a single bundled figure you cannot compare with anything.
Face or body: how does the area change the estimate?
Face and body are planned as two different treatments, and the zones inside each are priced by what they actually need. At HERA they are called Sok-Sok Face Injection and Sok-Sok Body Injection. The solution is the same idea in both β a lipolytic solution that breaks down fat cells so the body clears them over the following weeks β but the size of the zones is very different.

Why does the number of sessions matter more than the price per session?
Because fat dissolving is a course, and a per-session price tells you little until you know how many sessions you will need. The body clears treated fat gradually, so each session is given time to work before the next one, spaced a few weeks apart. For the face, 2 to 3 sessions are often recommended; for the body, 2 to 4, depending on the area and the amount of fat.
This is where comparisons go wrong. An estimate for one session in one zone can look very different from an estimate for a full course across two zones, and neither is wrong β they are simply answering different questions. When I write an estimate, I state how many sessions I expect your zones to need, and why. If I think your flank will probably need more than one visit, I would rather say so at the start than let a single-session figure look like the whole answer.
Results vary from person to person. Some people see the change they want sooner than planned, and some zones respond more slowly. We review progress at each visit rather than committing you to more sessions than your result needs.
What is included in a HERA estimate?
The consultation, the design and marking, the numbing, the injections and aftercare guidance β each part of the treatment is set out so you can see it. A fat dissolving visit at HERA follows the same steps every time:
- Consultation and assessment β a doctor evaluates your fat distribution, skin elasticity and goals to choose the zones.
- Design and marking β injection points are mapped across each zone for even, balanced reduction.
- Topical anaesthesia β a numbing cream keeps the injections comfortable.
- Lipolytic injection β the solution is delivered into the fat pockets.
- Aftercare guidance β swelling care and lifestyle advice before you leave.
The estimate is written, itemised and agreed before anything begins. International and local patients pay exactly the same; there is no separate price list for visitors. You are welcome to take the estimate away and decide later β nothing is started on the day you enquire unless you want it to be.
How do you compare fat dissolving quotes fairly?
Compare the same zones, the same number of sessions and the same person injecting β not the headline figure. Two quotes only mean something side by side when they describe the same treatment. These are the questions I would ask any clinic, including ours:
- Which zones exactly? "Chin" can mean the submental pocket alone, or the chin together with the jawline.
- How many sessions is this for? One visit, or the full course the doctor expects?
- Who injects? Placement and dose are clinical decisions and should be made by a doctor who has examined you.
- What is being injected? Ask for the solution to be named, and ask to see it opened.
- What happens if a zone needs one more session? Knowing that in advance avoids surprises.
- Is aftercare included? Especially if you will be flying home soon after.
A lower figure is sometimes simply a smaller treatment. That is fine if it is what you need, and a problem only if nobody told you.
When is fat dissolving the wrong thing to pay for?
When the fullness you want to reduce is not fat. This is the most useful thing I can say about price, because the most expensive plan is the one aimed at the wrong cause.
- Loose skin β if the lower face looks heavy because tissue has descended, dissolving fat will not tighten it. A lifting approach such as a thread lift or titanium lifting fits better.
- A wide jaw from muscle β a square lower face is often the masseter muscle, which responds to Botox, not to fat dissolving. See Botox for the jawline.

- Overall weight β fat dissolving injections are for small, localized pockets, not for weight loss.

Yes, several zones can be treated in the same visit, which helps on a short trip. Each zone still appears as its own line on the estimate, so you can see what each one involves.
"Can I get an estimate from photos?"
A photo consultation gives a good idea of the plan and the likely zones. I confirm the final estimate after seeing you in person, because fat, loose skin and muscle are much easier to tell apart face to face.
"How do I choose a clinic?"

The honest limits
Fat dissolving injections refine small pockets of fat; they do not reduce overall weight or replace liposuction for large volumes. Slimming appears gradually rather than on the day. Because treated fat cells are cleared by the body, results are long-lasting when your weight stays stable β but weight gain can change the picture. Mild swelling, redness or small bruises are common for a few days, and complications such as bleeding, infection or inflammation, as well as satisfaction, vary between individuals. What I can promise is an estimate that matches your zones and your likely number of sessions, and an honest answer if injections are not the right tool for you.
