Forehead Filler Before and After: How to Read the Side Profile

I'm Dr. Kim Jong Seon, the filler specialist at Gangnam HERA in Seoul, and a board member of both the International Petit Medical Society and the Korean Society of Aesthetic Surgery (KSAS). Before booking forehead filler, nearly everyone asks to see results, and the question is usually a little anxious: "What will my forehead actually look like after filler β and will it look obvious?" The short answer is that the biggest change shows from the side, not the front. A flat or dented forehead becomes a soft curve from brow to hairline. It should look like your own forehead, rounder, not like something was added. Here is how to judge a forehead before-and-after honestly, and when the result you see on day one is not yet the one to judge.
What does forehead filler change, before and after?
It turns a flat, sloped or dented forehead into a soft, rounded curve, and the change is visible the same day. Hyaluronic-acid filler is placed across the forehead to smooth hollows and create a gentle line from the brow to the hairline.
In a good before-and-after, the "before" shows a forehead that slopes back, has a groove across the middle, or steps in just above the brow bone. The "after" shows one continuous curve. The face often looks softer and a little more youthful, because a rounded upper face reads that way.
What it does not change is movement. Lines that appear only when you raise your eyebrows are a muscle problem, and forehead filler will not remove them. If those lines are your main concern, compare our forehead botox before and after guide.

Why is the side profile the photo that matters?
Because forehead filler changes projection and curve, and those show from the side far more than from the front. From the front, a rounder forehead can look almost the same, perhaps slightly smoother in overhead light. From the side, the difference between a sloped line and a curved one is obvious.
That is why, when you send photos for a consultation, I ask for a side view as well as a front one, and why any forehead before-and-after worth trusting includes a profile. A three-quarter view helps too, because it shows how the forehead flows into the temples β the side of the upper face that often needs to be considered at the same time.
Where can I see real forehead filler before-and-after photos?
In our before-and-after gallery, which shows real HERA patients. We do not use illustrations or AI-generated images to show results, because a picture that is not a real patient is not a result.
Our Korean filler before and after guide explains what is realistic in each area of the face, and temple filler before and after covers the area beside the forehead. At the other end of the face, jawline filler before and after shows how the lower part of the same contour changes.

How should I read a forehead before-and-after photo?
Compare photos with the same angle, the same head position and the same light β the forehead is easily flattered by an upward tilt or overhead lighting.
- Head position: tipping the chin down makes the forehead look more prominent. The profile should be level in both photos.
- Hairline: a fringe pulled back in one photo and down in the other changes how much forehead you see.
- Lighting: light from above deepens a groove in the "before" and smooths it in the "after" if it moves. The light should be the same.
- Expression: raised eyebrows add lines and change the shape. Both photos should be at rest.
- Timing: a photo taken straight after treatment includes swelling, so the forehead can look fuller than the settled result.
When all of these match, the difference you see is the filler. I would ask you to judge every result that way, including ours.
When do you see the result, and when does the swelling settle?
The curve is visible immediately, and mild swelling usually settles within two to three days. Redness or a small bruise can appear too and fades in the same window. The forehead may feel slightly firm at first and softens as the filler settles.
| When | What you usually notice |
|---|---|
| Same day | A visibly rounder forehead; it can look a little fuller than it will |
| Days 2β3 | Swelling, redness and any bruising usually settle |
| After that | The shape to judge; a review can check symmetry |
| Months later | Gradual softening as the filler is absorbed |
Hyaluronic-acid filler generally lasts around 6 to 12 months for domestic products and 12 to 18 months for imported ones, depending on the area and your metabolism. Results vary from person to person. I review the shape after the swelling has gone, not on the day, because early swelling can hide small differences.
What makes a good forehead result β and a bad one?
A good result is a curve you cannot point to; a bad one makes the forehead look too big, uneven or ridged.
- Too much volume: a forehead that looks bulging is almost always overfilled. I plan a conservative first session and review.
- Uneven placement: filler that sits in patches can show as bumps in overhead light.
- Ignoring the temples: a rounded forehead beside hollow temples can make the side of the face look narrower by contrast.
The forehead has important blood vessels close to the brow, so placement and depth matter more here than almost anywhere else on the face. That is why a doctor marks the curve first and places the filler at the depth each zone needs. Our forehead filler guide covers who it suits and how it is done.

What are the honest limits?
Forehead filler is not permanent and it cannot reshape bone β it builds a soft curve over the structure you have. If you want a large change in projection, filler is the wrong tool and I will tell you so. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved if an adjustment is ever needed. If you are planning the cost alongside the result, our guide to forehead filler cost in Korea explains what changes the estimate. The clinical detail is on our facial filler page, and when forehead, temples, cheeks and jaw are planned as one curve, see our C-line lifting filler.
Book a consultation
If you would like to know what forehead filler would change for you, send a photograph from the front and one from the side, with your hair off your forehead and your face at rest. We will arrange a consultation in Gangnam, or a photo consultation first if you are still abroad. An English interpreter joins every visit, and you receive an itemised written estimate before anything begins β international and local patients pay exactly the same.
FAQ

Q1What does forehead filler change before and after?
It turns a flat, sloped or dented forehead into a soft, rounded curve from brow to hairline, visible the same day. The change shows most clearly from the side.Q2Does forehead filler remove forehead lines?
No. Lines that appear when you raise your eyebrows are caused by muscle movement, which botox treats. Filler changes the shape of the forehead, not its movement.Q3When does swelling settle after forehead filler?
Mild swelling, redness or a small bruise usually settles within two to three days. The shape is judged and reviewed after that, not on the day.Q4Where can I see real forehead filler before-and-after photos?
HERA's before-and-after gallery on the Cases page shows real patients. HERA does not use illustrations or AI-generated images to show results.Q5How long does forehead filler last?
Domestic hyaluronic-acid fillers generally last around 6β12 months and imported ones 12β18 months, depending on the area and metabolism. Results vary from person to person.
